Janakpur Bolts captain Anil Sah to miss remaining NPL matches
In his absence, the team’s vice-captain, Aasif Sheikh, will take over the captaincy duties.
KATHMANDU: Janakpur Bolts captain Anil Sah will miss the rest of the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) due to an injury.
Anil, who played a crucial role in helping Janakpur reach the qualifiers, has sustained a hand injury.
In his absence, the team’s vice-captain, Aasif Sheikh, will take over the captaincy duties.
Anil, who is also an opener for the Nepali national team, participated in the team’s last league match, where he was dismissed for 8 runs. It was during this match that he sustained the hand injury, which now requires surgery, the club has confirmed.
Janakpur’s head coach, Pubudu Dassanayake, stated that Anil will not be able to participate in the remaining NPL matches.
Although he scored only 5 runs in the opening match against Biratnagar Kings, Anil bounced back with an unbeaten 62-run innings against Karnali Yaks in the second game.
In the subsequent matches, Anil scored 1 run against Pokhara Avengers, 45 runs against Lumbini Lions, 0 against Sudurpaschim Royals, and 11 runs against Kathmandu Gurkhas. He has been a key opener for the Janakpur team.
Despite suffering two defeats in the league stage, Janakpur managed to secure five wins, accumulating 10 points to advance to the qualifiers. They will face Sudurpaschim Royals in the first qualifier match tomorrow.
