Nepal sets India a 95-run target in ACC U-19 Women’s Asia Cup
Puja Mahato was the top scorer for Nepal with 25 runs, facing 40 balls.
KATHMANDU: In the ACC U-19 Women’s Asia Cup, Nepal has set a modest target for India, scoring 94 runs with 8 wickets lost.
After losing the toss and being invited to bat in Malaysia, Nepal managed to put up a total of 94 runs in 20 overs.
Captain Puja Mahto top-scored for Nepal with 25 runs off 40 balls, including 3 fours. Alisha Kumari Yadav remained not out on 9 runs from 9 balls, hitting 4 fours.
Opener Sanaa Pravin scored 9 runs, vice-captain Sony Pakhrein made 8, and Jyotsika Marasini was dismissed for 6 runs.
For India, Puronika Sisodiya was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 12 runs in 4 overs. Anandita Kishori also claimed 1 wicket.
Nepal secured a spot in the Super 4 after defeating Pakistan in their opening match, winning by 6 wickets.
India, having also defeated Pakistan by 9 wickets in their first match, has also secured a place in the Super 4.
In Group A of the tournament, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Malaysia are competing. Nepal earned a spot in the Asia Cup by qualifying for the U-19 Women’s World Cup from Asia.
The U-19 Women’s World Cup will be held in Malaysia in January next year.
Nepal is placed in Group D alongside Australia, Bangladesh, and Scotland.
