Rabi Lamichhane’s detention extended by 4 more days
The Government Attorney's Office is set to prosecute Lamichhane on Dec 20.
KATHMANDU: The District Court of Kaski has approved an additional four-day detention for Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane in connection with the cooperative fraud case.
This marks the eighth time the court has extended his custody.
On Monday, the police submitted their investigation report to the District Government Attorney’s Office.
The report was filed 84 days after the investigation began into the Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case in Pokhara.
The Government Attorney’s Office is set to prosecute Lamichhane on Dec 20.
Since it is illegal to detain suspects without prosecution, police sought the court’s permission to extend Lamichhane’s custody.
The investigation report names 51 individuals, including Lamichhane, as defendants.
Among them, 37 are still at large. The police have recommended claiming damages amounting to Rs 1.51 billion from the accused.
