KATHMANDU: Nikita Poudel, the wife of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, has expressed her discontent with recent media reports.

Through a social media post, she criticized the media for publishing news without verifying facts with her.

Addressing allegations regarding a house purchase, Nikita clarified that she is still paying installments for a property she bought for 40 million rupees. In her post, she wrote:

“This morning, my father called me laughing and asked, ‘You seem to have so much money. Some media say 150 million, some say 250 million, and others even 500 million. How much do you actually have? Give me some, too.’

I laughed and replied, ‘Maybe that’s why I am still paying the installments for the 40-million-rupee house I bought.’”

Nikita accused the media of being insensitive on sensitive matters. “Some media outlets claim one amount, while others claim a different amount. If the media were being truthful, shouldn’t the figures match? I have already submitted all my banking details to the police,” she wrote. “I wonder why the media have become so insensitive on such a sensitive topic. I even feel sorry for those writing these stories.”

She further criticized some media for their behavior when her husband was in custody. “The account is mine. If they had asked me directly instead of speculating about my finances, I would have told them the truth. When my husband was in custody, some media outlets demonstrated ‘courage’ against me, while society remained a mute spectator. This surprises me even more,” she said.

Nikita concluded by addressing the allegations of her husband’s cooperative loan. “To those claiming there is proof of my husband taking a loan from a cooperative, we have only asked for that proof. We are still waiting for it,” she stated.
