Rabi Lamichhane’s custody extended again
Lamichhane's previous custody extension, granted on Mangsir 27, ended last night.
KATHMANDU: Kaski police will present Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSSP) president and former Home Minister, Rabi Lamichhane, in district court today for the final extension of his custody.
According to Kaski District Police spokesperson, DSP Basant Kumar Sharma, a request will be made for an additional four days of custody. “Only a four-day extension is possible now,” he stated.
Lamichhane’s previous custody extension, granted on Mangsir 27, ended last night.
Police are now moving forward with the eighth extension process for further investigation.
Lamichhane was arrested on Kartik 2 in connection with the Surydarshan cooperative scam, while his business partner and Gorkha Media director, Chhabilal Joshi, was arrested earlier on Ashoj 6.
The 90-day investigation period for holding suspects in custody expires this Saturday.
The police have submitted an investigation report to the government attorney’s office, charging Lamichhane with money laundering, cooperative fraud, and organized crime.
They have recommended filing charges against 51 individuals, including Lamichhane. According to the report submitted on Monday, serious charges of cooperative fraud and organized crime have been levied against the accused.
