KATHMANDU: Nepal’s U-19 women’s cricket team has advanced to the semifinals of the ACC U-19 Women’s Asia Cup by defeating Pakistan U-19 by 4 wickets in their group-stage match.
While Pakistan exited the tournament after consecutive losses, Nepal secured their semifinal berth with one group match remaining.
In the game held in Malaysia, Nepal successfully chased down Pakistan’s 105-run target in 19 overs, losing 4 wickets. Captain Puja Mahato led the chase with an impressive 47 runs off 47 balls, including 4 boundaries.
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat, posting 104 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs.
Komal Khan top-scored for Pakistan with 38 runs off 44 balls, hitting 2 boundaries. Maham Anis contributed 29 runs off 37 balls, while Ravel Farhan added 13 runs off 15 balls.
For Nepal, Puja Mahato took 2 wickets, while Rachana Chaudhary, Riya Sharma, and Simana KC claimed one wicket each.
Nepal’s early breakthrough in the first over was followed by a steady performance from Pakistan’s batters, setting a competitive target.
However, Nepal’s disciplined batting ensured a confident victory and a place in the semifinals.
