Despite a modest target, batting wasn’t easy on the pitch: Gyanendra Malla
He expressed confidence that the team could still reach the playoffs.
KATHMANDU: Karnali Yaks’ coach, Gyanendra Malla, stated that while the target was low, the pitch conditions made batting difficult.
He expressed confidence that the team could still reach the playoffs.
After halting Sudurpashchim Royals’s chase within 12.2 overs, Mall remarked that despite the target being small, the challenging pitch made it uncertain whether they could successfully defend.
However, he emphasized the importance of playing excellent cricket with the right mindset.
Mall added that although the team’s chances increased after solid bowling during the powerplay, they ultimately fell short.
He also mentioned that if they had been able to set a target of 140 runs, they might have had a chance of making it to the first qualifier. However, the pitch conditions were unfavorable, leading to their defeat.
Mall explained that he sent Dev Khanal to bat at number four because Khanal is good against spinners.
He also acknowledged that the bowlers did well to get them this far but now expects more from the batters.
Sudurpashchim Royals captain, Dipendra Singh Airee, stated that his team focused on their own victory rather than other teams’ results.
He believed that by playing well, the team would secure the title, adding that if they maintained their momentum, the target would be achievable.
Airee also mentioned that they had prepared a plan to perform well against Janakpur in their upcoming match.
He urged fans to continue supporting the team, as they were determined to reach the finals.
