According to police sources, the investigation covered allegations related to money laundering, cooperative fraud, and organized crime.

The report will be submitted to the public prosecutor’s office today.

Police worked on finalizing the report until late Sunday. The public prosecutor’s office is expected to review and file the report at the Kaski District Court. Once the report is submitted to the court, preparations are underway to file the chargesheet by Dec 20.

The police are investigating within the legally mandated 90-day custody period.

Lamichhane was taken to Rupandehi, Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Parsa for statements during the investigation. Since today marks the last day of the current custody period, there is a possibility that an extension of four more days may be sought.

The investigation into allegations made during Lamichhane’s tenure as Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister has revealed the involvement of DIG Chhabilal Joshi, Leela Pachhai, Ram Bahadur Khanal, and Krishna Gurung.

Charges against all individuals must be filed by December 20 (Poush 5) as per the legal deadline.

Earlier, a parliamentary special investigation committee concluded that funds from Surya Darshan Cooperative had been misappropriated for Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd., and presented its findings in a report.
