KATHMANDU: A woman who set herself on fire near Kiratchowk in Kageshwori Manohara Municipality-8, Kathmandu, has died during treatment.

The deceased, identified as 38-year-old Kamala Acharya, originally from Ratnanagar Municipality-12, Chitwan, and residing in Bouddha Narayantar, sustained critical injuries after dousing herself in petrol and igniting it around noon on Saturday.
According to Kathmandu District Police spokesperson, SP Nawaraj Adhikari, Acharya arrived at the location on a scooter (Ba 35 Pa 5818) before the tragic incident.
Acharya was rushed to Sushma Koirala Memorial Hospital in Sankhu for treatment but succumbed to her injuries today.
Her body has been sent to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj for post-mortem examination.
The motive behind the self-immolation is under investigation.
