Father & son killed in high-speed motorcycle crash in Morang

KATHMANDU: A high-speed motorcycle accident occurred in Morang late at night, resulting in the deaths of a father and son, according to the police.

The incident took place at 12:10 AM last night on the Ghina Ghat section of the road in Jhorahat Chowk, Gramathan Rural Municipality-2, Morang.

The motorcycle, bearing registration number Province 1-04-002 Pa 1901, lost control and crashed.

According to the District Police Office of Morang, the motorcycle was heading towards Birat Chowk from Biratnagar when it went out of control and collided with a canal bridge.

Police have identified the deceased as approximately 22-year-old Ashik Marik, the motorcycle rider from Gramathan-1, and 45-year-old Umesh Marik, who was riding as a passenger.

Preliminary investigations reveal that they were father and son.

Although both individuals were rushed to Birat Nursing Home Hospital for treatment, doctors declared them dead on arrival, according to the police.

The police have stated that further investigation into the incident is underway.
