KATHMANDU: Jitu Nepal, initially recognized for his comedic roles on the small screen, transitioned into serious roles in his early film career. While he gained fame for his comedic timing, he shifted to more serious portrayals when he secured leading roles in movies. However, he has continued to play comedy roles in supporting characters.

In his latest film, Karsang, Jitu shares the screen with Dayahang Rai, who plays the lead. The teaser for Karsang reveals Jitu’s character as Dayahang’s friend.

The plot of Karsang involves a mysterious accusation of blame between two individuals, which is subtly revealed in the teaser.

Despite this, the reasons and the issues at the core of the story are yet to be fully disclosed. Jitu has mentioned that his role will bring both humor and a touch of seriousness to the film.

Before Karsang, Jitu played the lead role in Jwai Saab, which was released during the Dashain festival. Now, he has returned to a supporting role, further showcasing his versatility in character-based performances.

As the promotional campaign for Karsang kicks off in eastern Nepal, Jitu, along with co-stars Srijana Ninglekh, Diya Maske, and others, are urging local audiences to come watch the film.

The film, rooted in a rural Nepali setting, explores the story of the Sherpa community, which the cast believes will resonate with their local audience.

Karsang, written and directed by Yama Sherpa, is set to release on Jan 10.

The film features a talented cast including Dayahang Rai, debutant Srijana Ninglekh, Jitu Nepal, Diya Maske, Buddhi Tamang, Srishti Gautam, Doma Hyolmo, Prem Lopchan, and Surbir Pandit.

Produced by Yarsa Films and Purushottam Pradhan Films, with Purushottam Pradhan as the cinematographer and producer, Karsang also has Govinda Bohara as a co-producer.

The film’s international distribution rights have been acquired by Hulya Events, represented by Suman Parajuli and Somlal Thokar, while RR Films will handle national distribution.
