Four killed, 5 injured in separate road accidents
KATHMANDU: Three people, including a couple, died on the spot when a Bolero jeep lost control and overturned on the Tinau Bridge in Butwal.
The deceased have been identified as 71-year-old Tilakram Khanal and his 67-year-old wife Gauri Khanal from Butwal-12, Newaigaon, and the 32-year-old jeep driver Hari Nepali.
Gauri Khanal was being taken from Newaigaon to Lumbini Provincial Hospital for treatment when the jeep lost control, hit the bridge divider, and overturned, according to Police Sub-Inspector Vijayraj Pandit of the Butwal Area Police Office.
The accident occurred on a curve after crossing the bridge. The jeep is reportedly owned by Arghakhanchi Catering.
The bodies have been kept at Lumbini Provincial Hospital for post-mortem.
In a separate incident in Gulmi, a car accident on Friday evening resulted in one death and five injuries.
According to Gulmi District Police, a vehicle traveling from Butwal to Deurali, registration number Sudurpashchim Pradesh 1001 J 1385, crashed in Musikot Municipality-4, Dajakot.
The crash led to the death of 45-year-old Rabinkumar Shris from Resunga Municipality-8.
He was critically injured and was taken to Gulmi Hospital, where he was declared dead, informed Police Sub-Inspector Shankar Pokharel, the Information Officer at the Gulmi District Police Office.
Family members of the deceased Shris were also involved in the accident. His 38-year-old wife Basanti Shris and their 8-year-old son Action Shris were injured.
The driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Deepak Sunar from Musikot-2, Deurali, and 20-year-old Madhav Acharya and 43-year-old Ganga Bhattarai were also injured.
The injured were initially treated at Gulmi Hospital, and all of them have been referred to Palpa for further treatment.
The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
