Allu Arjun released on bail over ‘Pushpa 2’ stampede
The chaos at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman.
KATHMANDU: South Indian superstar Allu Arjun has been granted bail by the Telangana High Court following his arrest related to a tragic incident during the premiere show of Pushpa 2: The Rule.
The chaos at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre resulted in the death of a 35-year-old woman.
Initially, a Hyderabad court had remanded Arjun to 14 days of judicial custody. However, his lawyers appealed the decision, leading to his release on Friday.
Arjun was arrested from his Jubilee Hills residence.
During the hearing, he expressed grievances over police treatment, stating he was denied basic amenities like food and the opportunity to change clothes.
Several Indian celebrities and politicians criticized the arrest, calling it unjust.
The High Court ruled that Arjun could not be solely held responsible for the incident, emphasizing his right to freedom like any other citizen.
While the tragic event during the film premiere shocked many, the court maintained that a balanced approach was necessary to determine accountability.
