Actor Allu Arjun arrested after fatal stampede at ‘Pushpa 2’ screening
The arrest follows a complaint filed against him after a woman died during a stampede at the screening of his film Pushpa 2.
KATHMANDU: Hyderabad police have arrested South Indian star Allu Arjun following a tragic incident during a screening of his upcoming film Pushpa 2.
The arrest comes after a complaint was filed in connection with the death of a woman during a stampede at Sandhya Theatre, Hyderabad.
The incident occurred during a promotional event ahead of the film’s release.
Reports indicate that Arjun’s visit to the theater was arranged at the last minute, which led to a sudden surge of fans eager to see the actor.
The resulting chaos led to a stampede, tragically claiming the life of a woman named Revathi.
Revathi, who attended the event with her son, Sri Teja, suffered fatal injuries, while her son is currently hospitalized due to suffocation and is reported to be recovering.
Following the incident, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at Chikkadpally police station against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theater management under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In response, Arjun pledged financial assistance of ₹25 lakh to Revathi’s family and later approached the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the FIR. The court is expected to review his plea soon.
On Friday, officials from the Chikkadpally police station detained Allu Arjun at his residence in Jubilee Hills.
The actor was taken to the station for questioning, according to police sources.
