Police seize $29,700 from Jhapa

KATHMANDU: Police have apprehended Mohammad Naushad Miya, a 25-year-old resident of Jhapa Gauradaha-5, with 29,700 US dollars in his possession.

On Thursday at around 2 PM, during a routine check along the East-West Highway near Kerkha Chowk in Kamal Rural Municipality-2, officers stopped a bus (Province 1-01-001 Kha 9530) traveling from Damak to Birtamode.

Miya was found carrying 297 bundles of 100 US dollar bills, totaling 29,700 US dollars, equivalent to approximately Rs 4,033,854 based on the current exchange rate.

The cash has been seized in accordance with the law, and further investigations are being conducted by the Area Police Office in Damak.
