KATHMANDU: The reconstruction of a culvert over the Ichchhumati (Tukucha) rivulet in Kamaladi has been successfully completed, replacing the one damaged by floods.

Vehicular movement in the Kamaladi area was severely disrupted after the culvert was damaged by the Aug 7 flood.

Today, Secretary of the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Keshav Kumar Sharma, officially inaugurated the new culvert.

Ram Hari Pokharel, Director General of the Department of Roads, stated that reconstruction efforts were expedited due to Kamaladi’s importance as one of Kathmandu’s busiest routes.

Following the appearance of a sinkhole, the Ministry deployed technicians to conduct a detailed study of the issue.

Vehicular access to the area was restricted after a section of the Kamaladi road became impassable due to the damaged culvert.

On Sept 4, the Division Road Office Kathmandu awarded the reconstruction contract to DB Construction for a total of Rs 4.963 million.
