KATHMANDU: The country is currently experiencing a partial impact of western winds, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

On Thursday morning, the hilly regions of Gandaki and Karnali provinces are witnessing partly cloudy conditions, while other regions remain mostly clear.

Fog and mist have enveloped many parts of the Terai and Kathmandu Valley, disrupting daily life, particularly in the early hours. The department predicts partly cloudy to mainly clear weather across the country during the day and night on Thursday.

Temperatures have dropped nationwide. In Kathmandu, the minimum temperature recorded this morning was 3.9°C, rising slightly to 4°C. The maximum temperature is expected to be between 17°C and 19°C. The sun will rise at 6:45 AM and set at 5:10 PM.

The department advises caution due to the potential impact of fog and mist on daily activities, transportation, and aviation in the Terai and Kathmandu Valley. This pattern is expected to persist on Friday morning.

In the coming hours, the weather in the Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces will remain partly cloudy, while other regions will experience clear skies. By Thursday night, some parts of Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Gandaki, Lumbini, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces may also experience partial cloud cover.

Residents are urged to remain alert to potential disruptions caused by fog and mist, especially in the mornings, and plan their activities accordingly.
