KATHMANDU: Alina Chaudhary, one of the outstanding naturalists of Barahi Jungle Lodge, has been awarded the prestigious TOFTigers Lodge Naturalist of the Year 2024.

This recognition celebrates Alina’s exceptional contributions to wildlife conservation, sustainable tourism, and the empowerment of women in a field that has historically been dominated by men.

The award ceremony took place on Dec 6, 2024, at the exquisite Bikaner House, New Delhi. Alina was one of five finalists for the coveted award, and her recognition is particularly significant as she is the only female recipient in this year’s category.

Her achievement not only highlights her dedication to the environment but also marks a milestone for female representation in wildlife conservation and tourism.

A passionate advocate for nature, Alina’s journey into the world of conservation has deep roots in her family’s legacy. Her father, D.B Chaudhary’s work in wildlife tourism and her grandparents’ dedication to protecting forests and wildlife inspired her to continue their mission. As the only daughter in her family to pursue a career in conservation, Alina is a trailblazer, proving that women can lead with equal vigor and impact in a male-dominated industry.

Since obtaining her naturalist license from the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) in 2019, Alina has become an integral part of Barahi Jungle Lodge, joining in 2021.

There, she has worked tirelessly on birdlife conservation projects and supported initiatives within Chitwan National Park, further solidifying her reputation as a dedicated naturalist.

Prakash Chand, General Manager of Barahi Jungle Lodge, expressed immense pride in Alina’s accomplishment, saying, “Alina’s success exemplifies the strength and resilience of women in the field of conservation. Her hard work and passion are transforming the landscape of wildlife tourism, and we are proud to support her and others like her.”

This prestigious award highlights not only Alina’s personal dedication but also Barahi Jungle Lodge’s commitment to gender equality and empowering women in every aspect of their operations. The Lodge is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment that nurtures talent, providing women with the opportunities and support needed to thrive as leaders in the conservation and tourism industries.

Barahi Jungle Lodge, nestled along the banks of the Rapti River in Chitwan National Park, continues to be a premier eco-friendly destination known for its luxurious yet sustainable hospitality.

The Lodge’s efforts to protect nature and promote diversity in its operations are at the heart of its mission.

As Alina sets a new benchmark for women in conservation, Barahi Jungle Lodge congratulates her on this well-deserved recognition and reaffirms its commitment to supporting women like her in their efforts to protect our planet and inspire future generations.
