64 Kg marijuana seized in Sunsari; multiple drug busts in recent days

KATHMANDU: On Dec 9, the Armed Police Force in Sunsari District recovered approximately 64 kilograms of marijuana from the border area of Soniyahi, Bhokraha Narsingh Rural Municipality-8.

The marijuana was being smuggled from Nepal to India and was seized by the Border Out Post (BOP) in Ulti, under the Armed Police Force Nepal No. 4 Battalion, Sunsari.

The individuals transporting the marijuana fled the scene and abandoned the drugs as soon as they saw the Armed Police approaching.

Previously, on December 8, the same BOP in Sahebganj had seized around 35 kilograms of marijuana from an auto at Chimdi Bazaar, located in Barju Rural Municipality-6.

On Dec 7, the Border Out Post at Ghuskhi, Sunsari, intercepted 3,000 Tramadol Hydrochloride capsules worth approximately Rs 259,100, which were being illegally brought into Nepal from India, near the border area of Harinagar Rural Municipality-7.

Furthermore, on Dec 4, the Border Outpost in Basantapur, located in Sukhsena, Sunsari, seized 1,098 Tramadol Hydrochloride capsules worth around Rs 94,000.

In another major drug-related incident on Dec 4, the Armed Police detained two individuals in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-8, at Seuti Khola along the Koshi Highway, for possessing various types of illegal drugs.

The suspects, 41-year-old Roshan Magar from Anamatol, and 37-year-old Prakash Rai from Amarpath, were apprehended by a security team at a checkpoint in Dharan.

Upon inspection of their scooter, with registration number Ko 25 Pa 811, police found 34 Promethazine tablets, 35 Buprenorphine tablets, 35 Diazepam tablets, and 35 Pheniramine tablets.

The detained individuals, along with the seized drugs, have been handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal action.
