KATHMANDU: Heavy flooding and landslides in West Java, Indonesia, have resulted in the death of five people, with seven others still missing.

Authorities confirmed that five bodies have been recovered, and seven people are unaccounted for. The disaster, which began last Tuesday, has affected 589 homes in Sukabumi and displaced 1,400 residents.
Hadi Rahmat, a spokesperson for the Provincial Disaster Management and Mitigation Agency, reported that the disaster had also destroyed 10 bridges, hindering movement for local residents.
Among the seven missing, five are believed to have fallen victim to the landslides, while the cause of the disappearance of the remaining two remains unclear.
Rahmat stated that the search for the landslide victims is focused on the affected areas, while the search for the other two is ongoing in regions outside the disaster zone.
Two evacuation centers have been set up to provide displaced residents with food, shelter, medicine, and other essentials.
