KATHMANDU: Humla district experienced its first snowfall of the year starting Sunday night.
The change in weather, accompanied by strong winds in the afternoon, led to snowfall beginning late at night.
By this morning, Simkot, the district headquarters, recorded three inches of snow, while higher-altitude areas like Limi in Namkha Rural Municipality accumulated up to one foot of snow, according to health worker Log Bohara from Limi Health Post.
The delayed snowfall this year has brought joy to local farmers.
Residents of Humla believe that snowfall improves the weather and benefits crops.
Farmers are optimistic about a good harvest of wheat, barley, and buckwheat due to the snowfall.
The district headquarters Simkot and surrounding hills have turned completely white, impacting daily life. In northern Namkha areas, including Chala, Limi, Hilsa, and Yari, public life has been disrupted.
