Two killed in Bajura accident

KATHMANDU: Two people lost their lives and three others were injured in a jeep accident in Martadi, the headquarters of Bajura district, today.

The vehicle, a Scorpio jeep (Su Pa Pra 01 001 Cha 4316), was transporting pilgrims returning from the Malika Temple in Badimalika Municipality-8.

The victims were identified as 31-year-old Gayatri Panta from Bhimdatta Municipality-17 and Radhika Bhatta from Bhimdatta Municipality-18, Kanchanpur district. Panta died instantly at the scene, while Bhatta succumbed to her injuries at a local health facility, according to the District Police Office.

The injured passengers include 25-year-old Ramesh Dhami from Gaumul Rural Municipality-4, Bajura district, Mohandev Bhatta from Gularia, Krishnapur-5, and 39-year-old Lokendra Panta from Bhimdatta Municipality-17, Kanchanpur district.

They are currently receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Bajura.

In another incident, seven people were injured when a jeep overturned in Himali Rural Municipality, located in the northeastern part of Bajura district.

The accident took place at Dhima, where the jeep was carrying 13 people working to install Everest Internet services.

The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, leading to the crash.

The injured have been transported to Kolti Hospital for medical care.
