Westerly winds bring rain, snow, and fog alerts

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has reported a partial influence of westerly winds in the country, resulting in partly cloudy conditions over hilly areas, including Koshi Province, while the rest of the country remains clear.

Fog has also been observed in some parts of the Terai and the Kathmandu Valley.

According to the department, this afternoon will see partly cloudy skies in Koshi Province and the hilly regions, with clear weather elsewhere.

Light rain and snowfall may occur in a few places across the high hills and Himalayan regions of Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces.

Tonight, the weather will remain partly to fully cloudy in the hilly regions of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, Lumbini, and Gandaki provinces.

Some areas in Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Lumbini may experience light to moderate rainfall. Light rain is also likely in one or two places in the hilly regions of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces.

In the next 24 hours, light to moderate snowfall is expected in many places in the high hills and Himalayan regions of Sudurpashchim and Karnali.

Additionally, light to moderate snowfall may occur in some parts of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces.

There is also a chance of light to moderate rainfall in parts of Sudurpashchim, Karnali, and Lumbini provinces, and light rain in a few places in the hilly regions of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi.

The department has warned of foggy conditions in many parts of the Terai and the Kathmandu Valley on Monday morning, which may disrupt daily life, transportation, and aviation services.

Department have been urged to remain cautious.
