Two govt vehicles seized with 690 Kg of Cannabis been confirmed to have fake number plates
An investigation by the police revealed that the vehicle numbers and engine numbers of the white-number-plate cars were not registered with the Department of Transport.

KATHMANDU: Two vehicles with government number plates, which were involved in the transportation of 690 kg of cannabis, have been confirmed to have fake number plates.
An investigation by the police revealed that the vehicle numbers and engine numbers of the white-number-plate cars were not registered with the Department of Transport.
The police arrested one person in connection with the two Scorpio vehicles carrying cannabis.
During the investigation, it was found that the vehicles were not registered with the Department of Transport and were using counterfeit number plates.
According to District Police Office, Sunsari, spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ramprasad Timilsina, it was revealed that the numbers on the vehicles were forged.
“These vehicles are not government-owned; they were using fake number plates,” Timilsina said. “The details received from the Department of Transport show that these vehicles are not registered anywhere.”
Timilsina further explained that the chassis and engine numbers of the vehicles with government plates did not match with any records.
“The chassis and engine numbers do not match and have not been registered anywhere,” DSP Timilsina said. “The investigation is ongoing to find out where they were registered.”
The cannabis was found in two Scorpio vehicles, BA 1 Jha 5127 and BA 1 Jha 4605, which were heading towards Dharan from Dhankuta.
One person was arrested in connection with the case.
The arrested individual is 36-year-old Shyam Kumar Bishwakarma from Sundarharaincha Municipality-11 in Morang.
Biskarma was the driver of the vehicle with the registration number BA 1 Jha 4605.
The driver of the vehicle BA 1 Jha 5127 is still at large, and the police had to fire four rounds from an INSAS rifle in an attempt to stop the vehicle.
According to the police investigation, the forged vehicle, BA 1 Jha 4605, has a chassis number of E1000000900 and an engine number of 2E2894155.
However, no government vehicle has this registration, and the transport office has no records matching these numbers.
Similarly, the forged vehicle BA 1 Jha 5127 has a chassis number JWBAA B1420311006 and an engine number GA 13630248B, and it was also not registered anywhere.
The driver of this vehicle is still at large, and the police are conducting a search operation with the help of a special security committee.
