KATHMANDU: In Janakpur, the Sitaram Gaushala has dedicated a 108-meter long chunari (sacred cloth) to Goddess Janaki.

The chunari was provided by the Surat-based Jinmata Trust.

Before the tilak ceremony of Ram-Janaki, hundreds of devotees gathered at the Janaki Temple under the leadership of Sitaram Gaushala’s Chair, Manoj Rugnto, to present the sacred cloth.

Prior to reaching the temple, a procession was held with the chunari around the town.

During the procession, local residents showered the cloth with flowers.

While the tilak ceremony for Goddess Janaki and Lord Ram was underway, the chunari procession added vibrancy to the Vivah Panchami festival, as stated by the temple priest, Ram Tapeshwar Das Vaishnav.

Former minister and parliamentarian Julie Mahato, along with other political figures, also participated in the event.
