Vivah Panchami: 108-Meter Chunari Offered at Janaki Temple

KATHMANDU: Sitaram Gaushala in Janakpurdham presented a 108-meter-long Chunari to Goddess Janaki, adding to the grandeur of the ongoing Vivah Panchami festival.

Before the offering ceremony, the Chunari was taken on a Nagar Parikrama (city procession), where hundreds of devotees joined, showering flowers along the route.
The procession concluded at the Janaki Temple, where the Chunari was ceremoniously offered under the leadership of Sitaram Gaushala’s chairman, Manoj Rugata.
Coinciding with the Tilak ceremony of Ram and Janaki, the Chunari procession elevated the festive atmosphere, said Ramtapeshwor Das Vaishnav, a priest at Janaki Temple.
The event also witnessed the participation of prominent figures, including former minister and MP Julie Mahato, alongside other political leaders and devotees.
