KATHMANDU: Nepal triumphed over Afghanistan by 1 wicket in the ongoing U-19 Asia Cup in the UAE.
The match was held at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Dubai, where Nepal successfully chased down Afghanistan’s target of 124 runs in 41.3 overs.
Naren Saud top-scored for Nepal with 26 runs, while Arjun Kumal contributed 21 runs. Captain Hemant Dhami played an unbeaten knock of 22 runs.
Other contributors included Abhishek Tiwari with 13 runs, Roshan Biskarma with 9 runs, and Akash Tripathi, who also scored 9 runs.
Narayan Yadav was dismissed for 1 run, Santosh Yadav added 7 runs, and Naren Bhatt and Uttam Thapa Magar each scored 2 runs. Unish Vikram Thakuri remained not out on 0 runs.
This victory marks Nepal’s first win in the Asia Cup, following losses to Sri Lanka (by 55 runs) and Bangladesh (by 5 wickets) in their earlier matches.
Afghanistan, on the other hand, suffered defeats to Bangladesh (by 45 runs) and Sri Lanka (by 131 runs) in their first two games.
