KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Ramnath Adhikari, has emphasized the need for a technology-based approach in the seed supply sector as part of the global shift towards digital innovation.

During the launch of the seed-related software ‘Desis-2,’ Adhikari highlighted the importance of integrating agriculture with information technology to drive progress in the sector.

He stressed that digitizing the seed distribution system would significantly improve agriculture, aligning with the government’s ‘Digital Nepal Framework.’

Adhikari also called for the promotion of digital literacy and the development of key sectors like agriculture, tourism, energy, and infrastructure to accelerate Nepal’s growth.

The software, developed by the Ministry’s Seed Quality Control Centre with support from various donor agencies, aims to enhance farmers’ access to quality seeds by streamlining seed supply across all levels of government.
