KATHMANDU: Janakpur Bolts had a stellar start in the Nepal Premier League, with Asif Sheikh and Anil Kumar Shah playing key roles, securing 70 runs in 8 overs without losing a wicket at TU Cricket Ground.

Winning the toss, Karnali Yaks opted to bat first and scored 141 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted overs.

Skipper Sompal Kami and Arjun Gharti played aggressive knocks in the final two overs to boost Janakpur’s chase. Kami scored a quickfire 29 runs, while Gharti smashed 33 runs. Gulshan Kumar Jha top-scored with 36 runs.

Opener Dev Khanal was dismissed for just 1 run, while Shikhar Dhawan managed 14 before being sent back.

Chadwick Walton contributed 8 runs, and Babar Hayat added 12 runs. Zeeshan Maqsood was dismissed without scoring.

In the final moments, Kami remained unbeaten on 29, with Nandan Yadav also not out on 0.

Despite the challenging total, Janakpur’s opening duo delivered a solid performance, setting a strong foundation for the chase.
