KATHMANDU: Vote counting has begun for the by-election of the Vice-Chair of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality in Dolakha.

Maoist candidate Nima Leki Sherpa has taken a significant lead, securing 809 votes—nearly double her closest rival, UML’s Uma Lungeli Magar Sherpa, who has garnered 447 votes.

Congress candidate Pasadiki Tamang has received 240 votes, while RSP’s Goma Shrestha trails with 18 votes.

Unified Socialist’s Rabina Khadka and RPP’s Mankumari Shrestha have secured 14 and 12 votes, respectively.

Previously, the post was held by Nepali Congress’s Shyamsundar Tamang.
