Real Madrid closes gap to Barcelona with 2-0 win over Getafe

KATHMANDU: In La Liga, defending champions Real Madrid have closed the gap to league leaders Barcelona.

On Sunday, Real Madrid defeated Getafe 2-0, moving up to second place in the La Liga standings.

Goals from Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé secured the victory for Real Madrid.

Bellingham scored a penalty in the 30th minute, giving Real Madrid the lead.

Despite a poor performance, Mbappé found the net in the 38th minute, and Real went into halftime with a 2-0 advantage.

With 33 points from 14 matches, Real Madrid is now second, while Barcelona, who lost on Saturday, has 34 points from 15 games.

In other Sunday matches, Atlético Madrid beat Valladolid 5-0, Athletic Bilbao triumphed 2-1 over Rayo Vallecano, and Real Sociedad defeated Real Betis 2-0.

Villarreal and Girona played to a 2-2 draw. Atlético Madrid, with 32 points, is in third place.
