KATHMANDU: A legal dispute over land donated by businessman Min Bahadur Gurung to the CPN-UML for constructing its central office has faced another delay in the Supreme Court.

The case, scheduled for hearing on Sunday by the bench of Justices Til Prasad Shrestha and Nityananda Pandey, was postponed as it was marked “not reached for hearing.”

This marks the fifth postponement of the case, with previous hearings on Nov 17, 19, 22, and 25 also deferred.

The dispute arose after advocate Gyan Bahadur Basnet filed a writ petition, seeking the cancellation of the land donation through an interim order.

Gurung had announced the donation of 10 ropanis and 14 annas of land in Kirtipur Municipality-2, Maitrinagar, Kathmandu, on Oct 11, to construct the UML central office.

On the same day, Prime Minister KP Oli, alongside his wife and Gurung’s family, jointly laid the foundation stone for the office building.

Despite a short-term interim order issued on Oct 28, blocking the decision, hearings have repeatedly failed to proceed.
