AFU to host Agricultural Exhibition and Farmers Fair
The event will be organized on the premises of the Agriculture Faculty at the university.
KATHMANDU: An Agricultural Exhibition and Farmers Fair is to be organized here under the aegis of the Agriculture and Forestry University (AFU).
The event is taking place from De 14 to 18, said Dr Rishiram Kattel, the Coordinator of the Fair Organizing Committee and Director of the AFU Research and Publicity Directorate, at a news conference here today.
The event will be organized on the premises of the Agriculture Faculty at the university.
AFU had first organized the exhibition cum fair five years back.
The exhibition and fair are being organized with the objective of promoting the farmers’ knowledge, skills and capacity and it will have 135 stalls.
Discussions will be held on agriculture technology, innovation and research topics as well in the course of the event.
New technology necessary for farmers will be exhibited, in addition to deliberation on the technology, skills and knowledge adopted by farmers, Dr Kattel added.
The event will also feature policy dialogue on agriculture, the interaction between agriculture entrepreneurs and stakeholders on the transformation of agriculture and panel discussions on sustainable animal husbandry, veterinary services and managing human-wildlife conflict, among other topics.
According to Dr Kattel, more than 10 thousand farmers will be benefited from the exhibition and fair.
He viewed the event will be a milestone in terms of discussions among the farmers, students and agriculture researchers as well as in addressing the problems seen in the country’s agriculture sector.
