Enthusiastic voting continues in Darchula, Gorkha, Gulmi, and 20 wards of Kirtipur

KATHMANDU: Peaceful voting is taking place across various locations in the country for the 41 vacant local positions. Local reporters have indicated active participation in voting in Darchula, Gorkha, and Gulmi.

In Darchula’s Duhu Municipality-5, voting is ongoing at the ‘A’ and ‘B’ polling centers for the Ward Chair position. The District Election Office has reported 1,272 voters in this area.

Four candidates, including one independent, are competing for this position after the passing of the elected Ward Chair, Manorath Bhatt, in Ashar 2080.

Similarly, in Gorkha Municipality-5, voting is underway for the Ward Chair position across two polling centers. There are 2,225 voters in the ward, with nine candidates from different political parties contesting after the death of the previous Ward Chair, Khil Bahadur Rana.

In Gulmi’s Musikot Municipality-1, three polling centers are actively holding elections for the Ward Chair position. According to election officer Rishiram Ghimire, five percent of voting has been completed. This ward has 4,091 voters, with eight candidates running for the position after the death of the previous Ward Chair, Mohan Ghimire.

Similarly, voting is ongoing with enthusiasm for the chief and two Ward Chair positions in the 20 wards of Kirtipur Municipality.

According to election officer Indira Karki, there are 20 candidates running for Mayor and nine candidates for Ward 1 and 12 candidates for Ward 4, after the passing of the previous officeholders, Mayor Rajkumar Nakarmi, Ward 1 Chair Hiralal Maharjan, and Ward 4 Chair Shyamraj Adhikari.
