KATHMANDU: Voting has started for the position of Vice-Chairperson in Rukum’s Putha Uttarganga Rural Municipality.

The Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have fielded a joint candidate for this position.

Voting began a short while ago in the municipality.

For the vice-chairperson role, Keshkumari Tulachan from UML is contesting, while Narpura Budha is the candidate from the CPN (Maoist Centre).

A total of 22 polling stations have been set up across the 14 wards of the rural municipality. There are 11,180 eligible voters in the area, including 5,671 men and 5,509 women voters.

According to Election Assistant Officer Ishwari Prasad Suvedi, voters are participating enthusiastically in the process.

Special arrangements for security and election management have been made to ensure a peaceful voting process.
