Givina Magar mother dies in accident, brother commits suicide

KATHMANDU: Givina Magar, a 27-year-old renowned for her philanthropic efforts from a young age, is facing an unimaginable tragedy.

Just days after her wedding, she lost both her mother and brother in a series of devastating events.

Her 55-year-old mother, Dhankumari Budha, was killed in a tragic accident when a truck, with registration number Ga 2 Kha 1460, struck her while she was crossing a zebra crossing.

The incident occurred in the Yambdi area of Kaski, and despite being rushed to Manipal Teaching Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

Police spokesperson DSP Basanta Kumar Sharma confirmed the details.

In the wake of his mother’s death, Givina’s 26-year-old brother, Ramkumar Budha, who was already struggling emotionally, took his own life.

After the tragic accident, Ramkumar had not responded to calls, and when found, he was discovered hanging.

It is believed that he had been deeply affected by the loss of his mother and, despite Givina’s efforts to comfort him, took the extreme step after others had left.

Originally from Rukum East, Givina and her family had been residing in Pokhara-25, Yambdi.

Throughout her life, Givina had been actively involved in helping the poor and underprivileged, often raising funds to support them.
