KATHMANDU: Janakpur Bolts, led by captain Anil Kumar Shah, secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over Biratnagar Kings in the inaugural match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) franchise cricket tournament.
The match was held today at TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.
Captain Shah expressed his delight at starting the tournament on a winning note, attributing the success to his team’s preparation and adherence to head coach Pubudu Dassanayake’s strategy.
Batting first, Biratnagar Kings were bowled out for 127 runs in 19 overs. Janakpur chased the target effortlessly, scoring 128/2 in just 15.3 overs.
Biratnagar’s batter Martin Guptill admitted to facing initial challenges in batting but remained optimistic about bouncing back stronger in upcoming matches.
No matches are scheduled for Sunday, but the tournament will resume on Monday, Nov 2, with two fixtures.
Kathmandu Gorkhas will face Chitwan Rhinos at 9:15 AM, followed by Janakpur Bottlers taking on Karnali Yaks at 1:15 PM.
The NPL features eight teams, showcasing both domestic and international talent.
