By-elections begin for 41 local posts

KATHMANDU: The by-elections for various local government positions commenced at 7 AM on Sunday.
Voters will elect representatives for 41 posts, including one mayor, one deputy mayor, two rural municipality chairpersons, four vice-chairpersons, and 33 ward chairs.
The Election Commission has urged voters to confidently cast their votes for their chosen candidates at designated polling centers, provided their names are listed in the voter registry.
Voting Documents Required
According to Election Commission spokesperson Nita Pokhrel Aryal, registered voters can vote using any of the following original documents: voter ID, Nepali citizenship certificate, national identity card, passport, PAN card, or driver’s license.
A total of 376 candidates from 20 political parties and independent backgrounds are vying for these positions.

The Election Commission will continuously update the vote counting results on its official website after counting begins.
Spokesperson Aryal stated that trained personnel have been deployed to ensure the process is swift and accurate. Results will be accessible on the website results.election.gov.np.
