Lumbini Buddhist University convocation: 289 students graduated
On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli honored Bhikkhuni Dhammavati Guruma with an honorary doctorate.
KATHMANDU: A total of 289 students graduated degrees at the third convocation ceremony of Lumbini Buddhist University.
The students, from various faculties including those pursuing their doctoral degrees, were conferred their degrees by Prime Minister and Chancellor of the University, KP Sharma Oli, during the ceremony.
On the occasion, Prime Minister Oli honored Bhikkhuni Dhammavati Guruma with an honorary doctorate.
The 91-year-old Guruma, born in Lalitpur, was recognized for her unparalleled contributions to the development of Buddhist religion, philosophy, and education.
The 17th University Assembly, which concluded today, had decided to grant her this honor in recognition of her lifelong dedication.
Additionally, the Prime Minister conferred doctoral degrees to five individuals during the ceremony.
