Pedestrian dies in auto-rickshaw hit

KATHMANDU: A pedestrian died after being hit by an auto-rickshaw in Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City, Ward No. 6, Chaughadabazar, this morning.

The victim, 68-year-old Janak Rai of Shantitole, was severely injured when the auto (registration number Na 2 Ha 2692) struck him while traveling from Hetauda Bazar towards Chuchchekhola at around 6:15 AM.

He was immediately taken to Hetauda Hospital, but as treatment was not possible there, he was transferred to the Old Medical College in Bharatpur, Chitwan, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police have arrested the auto driver, 31-year-old Shankar Sarki, for investigation.
