Maoist & Congress hold rallies in Kirtipur (photos)
By-elections are scheduled to take place on Sunday, Dec 1 (Mangsir 16), across 41 local levels in the country.
KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress held an election rally in Kirtipur Municipality on Thursday, the final day of its election campaign.
The rally was attended by Nepali Congress General Secretaries Gagan Thapa, Bishwaprakash Sharma, and other leaders.
For the Kirtipur Municipality, the Nepali Congress has fielded Krishna Man Dangol as its candidate.
In the by-election for the municipality, CPN-UML has nominated Dr. Surendra Manandhar, CPN (Maoist Centre) has fielded Prof. Dr. Shivsharan Maharjan, and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has put forward Dhurva Maharjan as its candidate.
The by-election is being held following the death of Kirtipur’s elected mayor, Rajkumar Nakarmi.
The by-election will be held on 16th Mangsir (Dec 1), alongside elections in 41 local units across the country.

Likewise, CPN (Maoist Centre) has also organized an election rally in Kirtipur Municipality on the final day of campaigning for the upcoming by-election.
The event was attended by party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) and other senior leaders. The party has fielded Prof. Dr. Shiva Sharan Maharjan as its mayoral candidate for Kirtipur.
