Karnali Yaks welcomes star players, announces full squad for NPL (photos)

KATHMANDU: Karnali Yaks on Thursday welcomed Zeeshan Maqsood, former captain of Oman, at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
Maqsood, who has scored 1,273 runs in 48 ODIs and 1,369 runs in 73 T20Is, also has 51 T20I wickets to his name.
He is well-acquainted with Nepali cricket and joins the team as a key foreign player.
Karnali Yaks, led by coach Gyanendra Malla and marquee player Sompal Kami, has signed four international players.
Among them is Indian cricket icon Shikhar Dhawan, the biggest name in the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
Other foreign recruits include:
- Chadwick Walton, who has played Test cricket for the West Indies,
- Babar Hayat, a seasoned player from Hong Kong,
- Zeeshan Maqsood, former captain of Oman.
Local Stars and Emerging Talents
The squad boasts top Nepali talents like Gulshan Jha, Dev Khanal, and Nandan Yadav. Players from Category B include Arjun Ghatri, Rit Gautam, Mausam Dhakal, and Bhuvan Karki.
In Category C are Deependra Rawat, Younis Vikramsingh Thakuri, and Deepak Dumre. Talent Hunt star Bipin Prasad Sharma has been chosen as an iconic player.
Beyond the Field
The Yaks have appointed actress Swastima Khadka as the “Face of Karnali Yaks,” while Sisan Baniya serves as the youth ambassador.
Hotel Hilton is the hospitality partner for the tournament, which runs from Nov 30 to Dec 21.
Karnali Yaks will play their first match against Janakpur.
