KATHMANDU: The habeas corpus petition filed by businessman Durga Prasai has been dismissed.

On Wednesday, a bench comprising Justices Mahesh Sharma Paudel and Nityananda Pandey made the decision to reject the petition.

Prasai’s son had filed the petition, claiming that Prasai was being held in custody unlawfully and seeking his release.

However, the court ruled against the plea and dismissed the habeas corpus petition.

Prasai had previously alleged that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had investments in Cambodia’s telecom sector and released misleading video content regarding the matter.

Following the release of the video, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) arrested Prasai on charges of cybercrime.
