NEA board rules out power cuts to industries

KATHMANDU: The Board of Directors of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has decided not to cut off electricity supply to industries.
In a meeting held today, the decision was made to refrain from disconnecting power to industries.
Earlier this week, the Electricity Regulatory Commission had issued a directive for the immediate disconnection of electricity to industries with outstanding bills.
However, the NEA will now explore alternative methods for revenue collection, as instructed by the Commission, without cutting off power supply to industries.
Previously, the NEA had disconnected electricity to industries with unpaid dues on trunk and dedicated lines.
However, following the directive from the regulatory commission, the NEA board has agreed not to implement disconnections.
