PM Oli receives traditional invitation for 21st National Jyapu Day
Organizers have announced that the Jyapu Talent Award will also be conferred during the event.
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was extended a traditional invitation (Gway Dā Tyayegu Jwaivu) to participate as the chief guest in the 21st National Jyapu Day celebrations.
At the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar today, a group of around 100 individuals, including federal MP Krishna Gopal Shrestha and Jyapu Cultural Development Fund Chairperson Mangal Krishna Maharjan, presented traditional Newar musical performances and offered sagun to formally invite PM Oli.
This year’s Jyapu Day, coinciding with Yomari Punhi, will be celebrated on Mangsir 30 (Dec 15) with a rally in Kathmandu, culminating in a main event at Basantapur.
Organizers have announced that the Jyapu Talent Award will also be conferred during the event.
While accepting the invitation, PM Oli highlighted that Newar culture is a unique, advanced, and refined aspect of Nepal’s cultural identity with deep historical significance.
He emphasized the collective responsibility of preserving and promoting this heritage.
The Prime Minister assured the government’s support in increasing contributions to the endowment fund for Jyapu Guthi.
