KATHMANDU: A police inspector from Nepal Police has been suspended in connection with a cooperative fraud case.

The Police Headquarters confirmed the suspension of Inspector Dharmendra Akouliya.

During an investigation into fugitives involved in past cases, the Swayambhu Police Circle discovered that their own officer, Inspector Akouliya, was also on the list of absconding individuals.

Following this revelation, he was presented before the Kathmandu District Court on Mangsir 4 (Nov 20).

The court released him on bail of Rs 100,000. However, the Kathmandu Police have reported that Inspector Akouliya has since been placed under suspension.

According to police sources, a complaint was filed against him in Bhadra 2080 (August 2023) in connection with the Maruti Savings and Credit Cooperative Institution, where he was a member.
