Nabil SSE celebrates 3rd anniversary, advances social entrepreneurship

KATHMANDU: Nabil School of Social Entrepreneurship (Nabil SSE), established on Nov 26, 2021, has celebrated its third anniversary.

This initiative by Nabil Bank aims to drive social transformation through the development of social entrepreneurship as part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility.

Nabil SSE operates two programs: the Nabil SSE Fellowship Program and the Certificate Course. Over the years, more than 820 individuals have received entrepreneurship training through Nabil SSE, leading to the establishment of 117 new ventures and the creation of 1,200 jobs.

“We are proud that Nabil SSE has encouraged individuals with innovative ideas to create enterprises and generate employment within the country,” said Gyanendra Prasad Dhungana, CEO of Nabil Bank. He further highlighted the program’s role in promoting social and economic transformation, stating, “In just three years, the program has created jobs for hundreds of people and laid the groundwork for long-term social change.”

Since its inception, Nabil SSE has successfully collaborated with 12 educational institutions nationwide to implement its programs.

Among these partnerships, the Fellowship Program conducted in collaboration with Tribhuvan University’s School of Management (SOMTU) has provided an excellent platform for individuals interested in social entrepreneurship.

Participants of the fellowship program undergo an 18-day, action-based residential training over six months, followed by a year-long mentorship.

To date, 56 social entrepreneurs have completed this training, with 45 ventures already operational, generating significant employment opportunities. The fourth cohort of 20 new entrepreneurs recently began their journey under this program.

The Nabil SSE Certificate Course, conducted over three months, equips participants with the knowledge and skills required to operate and manage social enterprises. Among its graduates, 72 individuals have successfully established their enterprises, contributing to sustainable social change.

Nabil SSE empowers social entrepreneurs to address critical societal challenges, establish long-term ventures, and promote impactful solutions. Its primary focus remains on fostering investable ideas, building the capacity of small-scale entrepreneurs, and advancing social entrepreneurship.

As Nabil SSE enters its fourth year, the institution aims to expand its reach, furthering its contribution to the upliftment of communities across Nepal.

The program continues to play a vital role in inspiring and supporting sustainable social transformation through innovative entrepreneurship.
