KATHMANDU: The death toll in a communal clash in Kurram district, located in Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, has risen to 88, according to hospital authorities.

The violence erupted on Thursday when an attack targeted a vehicle carrying Shia Muslim pilgrims in the Parachinar area, leading to significant casualties.

This attack has sparked a wave of sectarian violence between Shia and Sunni communities, with numerous subsequent assaults further increasing the death toll.

Currently, a provincial government delegation has visited the affected district and facilitated a ceasefire agreement between the two communities for seven days.
