KATHMANDU: The teaser of the Nepali movie Bom Bahadur, starring actor Saugat Malla in the lead role, has been released.

The movie is set to premiere on Dec 20, 2024, simultaneously in Nepal and India.

The teaser delivers a powerful message: “Let’s fight not with weapons, but with minds. An educated society cannot be suppressed. It becomes its own voice and stands for its future.” This underlines the film’s core theme of education and empowerment.

Storyline and Themes

Bom Bahadur portrays a meaningful narrative and depicts a historical struggle. The movie sheds light on the challenges faced by the Nepali community in India, particularly in the Darjeeling hills and the neighboring Dooars region. It is based on real events from the 1980s, nearly 38 years ago.

Director John Rai shared that the film serves as a digital archive of the history of the struggles endured by the Nepali community in India.

According to Rai, the movie is both entertaining and thought-provoking, offering suspense, thrill, romance, and social drama. The storyline focuses on how events from four decades ago impact the present life of Bom Bahadur, the protagonist.

Producer Sanjeev Sarki emphasized that the film was made to ensure that future generations do not forget their history.

Cast and Crew

In addition to Saugat Malla, the movie features an ensemble cast, including Prashant Rai, Anisha Rasaily, Bhaskar Pradhan, Mahendra Bagdas, Madan Bhujel, Bharat Basist, Ajay Pradhan, Shantila Tamang, Riya Bhujel, child artist Basista Karki, and Suresh Panchakoti.

The movie is produced under the banner of Bista Brothers Films Pvt. Ltd., with Sanjeev Sarki as the producer. The story and screenplay are written by John Rai and Rupesh Tamang.

Cinematography is done by Sujoy Kumar Roy (Munna), while editing is handled by Gyan Gurung. Music and songs are composed by Dipankar Singh Mukhia, with background score and arrangement by Ejazz Ali.

Technical Details

Line producer Prakash Hamal, colorist Kunal Kunwar, and sound mixer Mukesh Shah are among the key contributors. The film’s distribution is managed by Rich Entertainment and FD Company. Post-production was carried out at Classic Cine Universe in Nepal and Healing Octaves Studio in India.
