KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has established a Joint Election Operation Center (JEOC) starting today to address issues arising during the by-elections promptly.
The center, coordinated by Secretary Rabi Lal Panth, will monitor the implementation of the commission’s decisions, adherence to the code of conduct, and address complaints and reports related to violations.
Additionally, it will oversee various aspects of election management, ensuring swift resolution of any challenges.
The center will remain operational until the announcement of election results, according to the commission’s spokesperson, Neeta Pokhrel Aryal.
The center includes members such as Joint Secretary Narayan Prasad Sapkota, Home Ministry Joint Secretary Rishi Ram Tiwari, Nepal Army Major Subas Khadka, National Investigation Department Deputy Director Naresh Bahadur Shah, Nepal Police Senior Superintendent Deepak Regmi, Armed Police Force Senior Superintendent Dig Vijay Subedi, and Election Commission Under Secretaries Durga Prasad Chalise and Dr. Thaneshwar Bhusal.
By-elections for 44 vacant local-level positions are scheduled to take place this Sunday, Dec 1.
